Alumni Networking Website Acceptable Use Policy
These acceptable use standards apply to anything you submit or post to our Alumni Network website ("User Content"). By using the Alumni Network website, you agree to adhere to this Acceptable Use Policy. This includes one-on-one contact you make with other users on our Alumni Network website, any links you send to our Alumni Network website, and any other ways you use our Alumni Network website.
This policy is supplemental to our Alumni Network website Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
You must comply with these standards in spirit as well as to the letter.
Reed Smith LLP reserves the right to remove, modify, or refuse User Content in its sole discretion. Reed Smith is not obligated to review any User Content prior to publishing to the Alumni Network website.
Reed Smith will determine, in its discretion, whether any User Content or your use of our Alumni Network website breaches these acceptable use standards.
You may not use our site:
- In any way that breaches any local, national or international law or regulation.
- In any way that is unlawful or fraudulent or has any unlawful or fraudulent purpose or effect.
- To bully, insult, intimidate or humiliate any person or cause them harm.
- To send, knowingly receive, upload, download, share, post, use or re-use any material which does not comply with our content standards set out in this policy.
- To transmit, or procure the sending of, any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising or promotional material or any other form of similar solicitation (spam).
- To knowingly transmit any data, send or upload any material that contains viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time-bombs, keystroke loggers, spyware, adware or any other harmful programs or similar computer code designed to adversely affect the operation of any computer software or hardware.
User Content:
- Must be accurate (where it states facts).
- Must only contain opinions that are genuinely held.
- Must comply with the law applicable in any country from which it is posted and to which our Alumni Network website is targeted.
- Must not include images or videos.
User Content must not:
- Be defamatory of any person.
- Be obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory.
- Infringe any intellectual property rights.
- Be likely to deceive any person.
- Breach any legal duty owed to a third party, such as a contractual duty or a duty of confidence.
- Contain illegal content or promote any illegal content or activity.
- Be in contempt of court.
- Be threatening, abusive or invade another's privacy, or cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety.
- Be likely to harass, upset, embarrass, alarm or annoy any other person.
- Impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person.
- Advocate, promote, incite any party to commit, or assist any unlawful or criminal act such as (by way of example only) copyright infringement or computer misuse.
Illegal content
In addition, you must not use our Alumni Network website in any way that involves:
- Terrorism offences.
- Encouraging or assisting suicide (or attempted suicide) or serious self-harm offences.
- Harassment, stalking, making threats or abuse offences.
- Hate offences.
- Controlling or coercive behaviour offence.
- Drugs or psychoactive substance offences.
- Firearms or other weapons offences.
- Unlawful immigration or human trafficking offences.
- Sexual exploitation offences.
- Extreme pornography offences.
- Intimate image abuse offences.
- Proceeds of crime offences.
- Fraud and financial services offences.
- Foreign interference offences.
Job Postings
You must not use our Alumni Network website or share content containing any advertising or promoting any services or web links to other sites.
Where you have been given access to our Alumni Network website to provide information to us about jobs vacancies for us to post on the Alumni Network website you must comply with the following.
- Only send us details of vacancies you are actively seeking to fill either for your own organization or as a pre-appointed recruiter for a third-party organization.
- Notify us when a post is no longer accurate or the vacancy has been filled so that we can remove the post from our Alumni Network website.
- Ensure your requested wording for the post complies with the law applicable in any country or state relevant to the job and the advertising of the vacancy.
- In order to post as a pre-appointed recruiter for a third-party organization, you must have an active contract in place with the third-party entity allowing you to provide active recruiting services.
- Do not discriminate in job posts based on protected characteristics, including age, gender, gender identity, religion, ethnicity, race, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, and any other basis protected under law.
- Do not intentionally misrepresent the job, hiring company, or poster.
We reserve the right to reject, approve, or remove any job post for any reason, in our sole discretion, including in response to user feedback. We may suspend or terminate accounts tied to businesses or individuals who repeatedly violate these terms or our other terms.
We periodically update our policies, so please check in and review them regularly. We reserve the right to change these policies at any time without notice.
